1 LOW DENSITY BAGS AND SHEETS:

1.1 GAUGE Spot check, using a micrometer, + or - 10%. If this gives rise to a possible dispute, the correct average thickness should be resolved by weighing.
1.2 The yield of the film can be determined by weighing a sample i.e. 1sq.m where the material is 300mm wide or less and 2sq.m if over 300mm wide.

The yield can then be calculated as follows.

Y1 = Area in sq.m / Net Weight in Kg.

and the correct nominal yield (Y2) will be:

Y2 = 1000 / Density (g/ml) xThickness (microns)

Note: For non-pigmented films, it will be accurate enough to assume a density of 0.92g/ml. For pigmented film, the density must be obtained from the manufacturer to the nearest 0.005g/ml.

Any deviation can be calculated

Deviation = 100 (Y2-Y1) / Y2

1.3 Depending on the size of the consignment, the deviation should not exceed:

Consignment weight up to 250kg
+ or - 10%
251 to 1000kg
+ or - 7.5%
1001 to 5000kg
+ or - 5%
5001 and over
+ or - 3%

1.4 SIZE + or - 3% or 3mm whichever is the greater
1.5 COUNT + or - 1% of marked price quantity
